About the name Bear Paw Newfoundlands. When our kids would see one of our Newfies paw prints in the mud or snow, they would come running to us saying that they have found a "bear paw print" thus came the name BEAR PAW!

About Newfoundlands...
Newfoundlands are known as the gentle giants among canines. They are sweet devoted companions that will
protect children, haul firewood, and save drowning people.
There are so many conflicting stories about the origin of the Newfoundland. The breed as we know it today was
developed largely in 19th century England and America.
Newfoundlands may appear to be somewhat placid. The truth is they are fairly active dogs. They enjoy and
need daily exercise. They need proper shelter and grooming. The more you brush the less you have to bathe.
Some sort of obedience is a must. An untrained dog, no matter what the size, is a liability (especially one that
grows to be as large as a human adult).
About Us...
My name is Amy Williams. As a child I grew up in Illinois, where my family use to breed and actively show St.
Bernards. I was first introduced to the Newfoundland when I was eight years old and I fell in love. I moved here
to Northwestern Wisconsin as a teenager with my family.
I am now married to a wonderful man (BJ) with whom we share five beautiful children (Sara, Warren, Andrew,
Austin, and Aaron). The other part of my family are my Newfies. I can not imagine life without my whole family.
The cost is great for have such a large family (human and canine) so my husband and I both work multiple jobs
to support it. I have always worked night shift so I am home during the day to care for all my babies. It does get
very tiring at times but it is most definitely worth it. I am currently going through grooming school, with hopes to
have a successful grooming business here at my home.
We are fairly new breeders. We intended to start our breeding program in 2004. This was actually delayed a
year due to a devastating house fire in the spring of '04. We had our first litter of Newfoundlands in June 2005.
We have added a building just for our dogs. It is heated for the Wisconsin weather. This building will serves as
both a grooming salon for my business and a kennel for some of our dogs. It has large indoor/outdoor kennels
and special whelping rooms for our dams and their pups.
Throughout this site you can see many pictures of my family and our puppies. If you are interested in adding a
Newfoundland to your family please do your research make sure that this is the right breed for you. Then if you
are still interested in a Newfoundland you can contact us to see if we are the right breeder for you. I look
forward to hearing from you!
